Don't come whining on the forums about how you "didn't know". Be very grateful you didn't get banned, like some of the developers voted for.

Manitoba either doesn't realize who Gaile is and what access she has to back up her statements or it just not quite quick enough to know he's in over his head with this argument. Who had that brilliant you got pwned link?
To Gaile, thank you sincerely for the info and all you're doing passing things back and forth during all this Drama. Have a cookie hun XD

Yeah be grateful I'm not going for the title, eh? But it sounds like you'd rather not believe me and "call me out".

|
This is a problem/challenge with an online game. Because things are always changing it is hard to keep track of what is current unless you visit the boards. When I first saw someone trying to sell charr bags I thought they were fibbing. It may be far fetched but I could see someone who did not visit the boards being told "tomes now drop in pre..." and believing it. (let's face it, if you did not visit the boards or the official news site you would have no idea what the latest updates had done or what the restrictions in any item would be)
Not that it really changes anything. A character with a tome in pre is at too much of an advantage - shoot him on to post.

I know exactly who Gaile is. But theres a big problem going on and shes hiding it, and a few here know of it. For those that remember the proggy Requia
Then look at this site http://gw.skryer.com/ on it someone is asking about dupe weapons from 5/17/07 3 MONTHS AGO. Its been going on longer than Anet wants to admit.

I ask about pie in the sky, too, but that doesn't mean it exists. And I remember the proggy Asteroids for my 2600, but that doesn't mean it has relevance to this discussion.
I'm sorry, manitoba, I don't mean to be harsh with you. But I really, really can't let statements like "Guild Wars has a lot of hacks" go unchallenged. Mentioning a website, or relaying that someone asked for a hack three months ago is meaningless. I want to see the hacked item. I want to know the account name. I want to get my mitts on the code for the "hack." But aside from a few people (and yes, it was few) making some dupes or moving from Pre- to Post-Searing and back -- and both were dealt with quite thoroughly and well -- I just don't see that we have anything to point to as a problem right now.
The Oni is fine. We handed out the 10 winner prizes in the Brand the Bosses Contest on Friday. I'm sure the little guy is legit.

We can safely say that anyone with a Post-Searing skill on his character, and anyone holding a tome, will be moving to Post-Searing without passing Go and without collecting $200.

Tell me about it!
Nice job goes to you, Gaile, and the rest of the Guild Wars team. If you believe manitoba, you'd swear GW is riddled with holes. Truth is, it's one of the most solid and secure games on the market. When there is an issue, it's taken care of as soon as the cause is known.

I have to agree, been playing this game for bloody ages, never got hack, never lost a chars, items, pets, hair. Laugh my butt off and went about my day. Ok I don't really get some of the nerfs, and it's far from perfect, but what is?
Look into arcanemacabre avatar's eyes and you'll see the wisdom of understanding.

As much as i admire and respect the GW team, they do still miss some targets.
For example. The GvG scrimmage survivor exploit went unnoticed for a long time, even though some people have pointed it out upon inception.
Manitoba, i understand you want "the truth out", but rightfully so, Anet cannot and should not be giving out details of exploits in fact to protect the game and its players.
The fact that the dupe exploit and this hack have been made public may have increased the speed of its fix, but it doesnt help when it degrades the general view on the game. Its not about maintaining naivity.
Anet had admitted there was a dupe exploit and the exe was hacked for presearing and it has since been fixed.
If you want to address other things, do so discreetly between Anet and yourself, so that such details do not leak out into the general public and does not become used by more people.

Bugs are one thing, and GW, like all games, has many of them, no doubt. Flat out hacks and dangerous exploits (dangerous as in can hurt the game like the dupe exploit) are another thing entirely. Getting an easy survivor title does nothing to the game at all. The most important and hurtful things are taken care of pretty much on the spot, as we have seen. That's what I'm talking about.
The game is not perfect, but it is pretty darn solid and secure. Just because there were two major problems recently doesn't mean there has been a long, sordid history of hacks as manitoba suggested. There hasn't, and there isn't, period. You can find a multitude of sites claiming hacks and exploits till the cows come home - none of them are legit.

Oh i agree, Anet is quick to fix and the game itself is quite secure.
I just like to point out the survivor thing cause it was kind of a "Duh!" exploit.
Other annoying exploits get fixed quickly. The older dupe exploit was patched rather quickly and discreetly (lasted less than 2 weeks). The old Thunderclap exploit i think is my favorite example.

OK except you what you were saying on the last page is there've been "tons of hacks" which has nothing to do with that at all. As for dupes months ago, dessert scam maybe? People have claimed they could dupe weapons/pets etc in that desert mission to get the unwitting to drop items for ages now. It was a scam. Just because people ask doesn't mean they can. I could ask here if my char could fly, doesn't mean there's some bizarre hack.
When did the dupes start? I don't know and sorry but unless you were duping neither do you. I trust Gaile on that because they can actually see logs ...but really who cares? It's over now, let's play the game lol. What my post regarding you was about however was not dupes it was your statement about "tons of hacks" and I think Gaile has already taken care of that so I'm gonna go drink my coffee.
BTW Love the bootin' to post thing, that's a brilliant solution xD
